Vampire Valchrist (my style)
Chapter 7
We gulped in fear, the scene lready playing in my head. He'd tell us they did all they could, even with their fabulous track record....they'd lost her. Tears swelled in my eyes as I waited for him to speak again. He took a deep breat, aparently bracing himself. "keep in mind kids, we did all we could," he began. I was ready to break down then, my knees wobbled. "She faught hard and.........she made it,". I nearly fainted anyway with shock. Megan was estatic "She made it!? She's alive!?". The doctor smiled "yea, she did. She asleep right now, but the bad news is she'll probally scar pretty bad and she is in critical care. It could still go ether way, but the odds are pulling to a long but good recovery,". Megan and I were overjoyed. The docter lead us to her room, warning us not to wake her. He left us alone with her, she looked a mess. Matty hair and the hospital gown was always bad. She had a breathing mask on and many cords and things. I saw her neck bandaged and who knew what else was at this point. She groaned a little and woke herself up. "C..Chris....,"
My eyes lit up as her beautiful eyes opened weakly. "kalula! oh Kalula I'm so sorry!" I began to sob. She looked up at me "F..For..w..what?" she asked. I looked at her confused. "I insulted you, this is all my fault!" I sob. She seemed to, laugh. "chris...this isn't...y..your fault, it's no ones." She said so calmly it calmed myself. "But, arn't you angry at me?" I asked taking a seat next to her. She couldn't shake her head. "no, I would never be mad at you. Just call it...s..shock,". She did have a point, if I'd been threw what she went threw when I met her, I'd be a little flipped too. "Are you feeling alright?" asked Megan. Kalula looked up at her. "oh..I..I didn't..s..see you. Yes..I....am fine,". Megan stroked her hair and smiled. "Get better soon and we can fix your hair," She smiled at Kalula. This was strange, Kalula was a basket case when she got here. I guess the near death experiance made her feel more down to earth.
Her stay was long, nearly a month, but when she did get out she was still looking rough. I'd seen her wounds, she looked like a half mummy. Though once out of the hospital her old personality kicked in. She grew quiet and staied home for a few more weeks. Valchrist staying far from her the whole time. When she did start back to our school, we made sure the fans kept their distance from her. For her safty and their's. She had the bandages on all the time. To help keep the wound together and hide it from onlookers. Everytime she wore shorts or tank top I saw them and winced. Just remembering the shark made me ill. She was a stronge girl.
One saterday she came up to me. Which was strange cause she never talked to me. She still limped a bit, I assumed now it was just because it was sore. She stood their for a moment. "Do you want something?" I asked her. She looked at me "I..never got to say thanks for saving me," She said. This took me back a moment. "You've been a little distance, and I felt a little strange with the vibe around you," She said a little sadly. I looked at her "So, you're a phycic?" I asked. She giggled "no, but anoyone can tell when another isn't feeling happy,". She did have a point. "So...why? Are you mad at me? For running from you I mean," I could only stair at her "Kalula, I could never be mad at you. I was mad at myself. That day, I was to bold with what I said. I was mad that I'd hurt you, if I hadn't of talked that way, you wouldn't be like this,". She only staired at me.
"Chris, I told you, I'm not mad at you," She soothed. Her voice sounded like a concerned mother. "I was a little spooked at the entire change in scenery and everything. It's something about being a girl you guys'll never understand. I had a lot in my head, what you said that day just overloaded my brain and I was hopeing to find a place to clear my brain. I just didn't think that place being the bottom of the ocean,". She gave a giggle. It was cute, in a mature way. "Kalula, do you want to go back to Texas?" I asked her. She looked at me "why, I've got nothing there holding me," She answered. "but you have nothing here ether," I answered. She got quiet, I gullped worried I'd said the wrong thing again. She stepped out onto my small balcony in my room. The warm california wind blew her short hair. Did she feel the same thing on her bandages? She looked out over the neighborhood. "I may not have anything here ether Chris, I may have nothing anywhere I go." She turned to me, with the first smile I'd ever seen her smile, a true smile. "But if I don't explore, I'll never know for sure now will I?"
